Before anything else about the last trek, a little about the future.

6 weeks, 4-5 passes, 4 districts. Thats the plan for 16th May - 30th June.

  1. Start from near Dharamshala, cross the Gaj pass in the Dhauladhars to Chamba passing Lam Dal (a 4000+ metre glacial lake), 5-6 days.
  2. Sukh Dali pass from Holi to Manimahesh Lake, 4-5 days.
  3. Cross Kugti/Kali Chho pass in the Pir Panjal range to Lahaul and Spiti, 5-6 days. Could also be across Pir Panjal to Churah in Chamba via another glacial lake. The latter is an unknown route.
  4. Bus back from Lahaul and Spiti to Pangi valley, short treks and stay at Kilar, 5-6 days.
  5. Back to Lahaul and Spiti for Chandratal lake. Short treks to Spiti villages and monasteries, 7-8 days. This could also include a 8-10 day trek towards Ladakh, quite strenous high altitude trek with little oxygen.
  6. Bhabha Pass from Spiti to Kinnaur or Pin Parbati pass from Spiti to Manali, 8-10 days.

Add the odd rest day and you get the picture. The plan is ofcourse sketchy because you never know with the mountains. We may cross some, we may not cross others but trek we will for 45 days. Why am I announcing this loud and clear? Simple. I need trekking partners. I know 45 days could be asking for too much. So, if you are interested in any of the legs of the trek or if you know someone who could be, please do me the favour of passing on the word.

A bit of a disclaimer before I end. I am not a trek organizer, just a fellow trekker. Jango can provide more details at +91-98162 14339. Alternatively, if you want to talk to me before you discuss with Jango, drop me a line at shalabh[at]trekhimachal[dot]com.
