Treks in Himachal
A section dedicated to the treks I go to, complete with a travelogue, basic travel information and an image gallery. Let me dispel a few concerns and confirm some about the travelogues and images. Yes, they may often be long given my love for verbosity and detail and No, they are not spoilers because no words or photographs ever do justice to what the heart experiences and the eyes wonder at. Nature has such diversity and human nature such diverse interests that no two people visiting the same place will ever see and feel the same thing. So, go ahead and pamper me by reading the travelogues.
This section, aims to, in time, become the most comprehensive resource for trekking in Himachal. Low altitude, mid altitude, high altitude, alpine, cold desert, everything. A small note on how the treks are graded:
1. Easy - need no experience, normally short duration, low altitude, easy trails and enough infrastructure to make the trek not feel like much.
2. Moderate - need little experience (can do with none as well), medium duration, occasional long climbs, wilderness.
3. Hard - some experience necessary, often unused and difficult trails, no habitation for long stretches, difficult climbs/descents most days, lots of wilderness.
4. Very Hard - experience must (unless you hire scores of guides and porters), long duration, no trails, difficult terrain, could include snow/glacier camps and multiple days of walking on snow and/or glacier.

Fantastic to know that you've decided to follow your own calling ! Happy for you, though I'm sure you'll face a lot of questions internally in the coming months - all the best and keep publishing your adventures...Btw, hope this trekhimachal turns to trekindia and trekworld at later stages in your life
Very interesting site.
I also belong to Himachal and fully agree with you that Himachal has a lot to offer and it is still unexplored. I am glad you have taken a step in this direction
I am an extensive traveler myself. You can check my experiences at http://mytravelingexp.blogspot.com/.
All the very best for your site. Do let me know if I can help in any way
Best wishes,
Shailza
Thanks for your comment. I have not yet done this pass but may be crossing sometime in October. Once that is done, I will post the photos and details on the site. You are right, the curvy snow slope leading to the pass is known as Sarali ka Pher.
Let me know if I can help you in any other way.
Cheers,
Shalabh
Also our guide said when we reached a place probably what our guide Said the Nag Dal Lam Dal Pass that we have another big lake there which was 3.5 hours away 4m dis pass and noone knows abt it.He said when he went dere and when he was at abt 200 mts away 4 d lake a pal ordereded him 2 go away 4m dere.Nw this lake is mystery. Also i heard 4m d Mountaineering institute head that 4m d top of Dhauladhar Matterhorn Peak another 2 lakes are visible on d Chamba side.
.Sir I seriously want 2 do Kundli Pass.it has become an obesession 2 me.Help me out.D local pal who has a dhan there at Haudi Ka Gote.He jst came back.I told him 2 take me 2 Kundli Pass but he refused saying that the weather n time is not right and he said u can do Kundli Pass only the next year aftr June.Sir im vry much willing 2 go there.I request u if u can take me 2 This Kundli Pass.
Thanks for your comment. I have explored parts of the Dhauladhar and know about Lam Dal, Kali Kund and the 4-5 lakes downstream from there. I have also heard the same conflicting stories about Nag Dal and Nag Chhatri Dal. The exciting part is no one knows much about these places. So, the best way to put these doubts to rest is to go there and see for yourself. I may be going towards Nag Dal and then walking to Lam Dal from there along the Dhauladhar ridge. Will let you know when I plan this and you can join in.
Even if you cant, will ensure I come back and give you all details on what I see.
As far as I understand, we should be able to do Kundli till late November if it does not snow and the same goes for all the Dhauladhar passes. I am planning this for middle October. Will let you know once I have finalized the plans and you can join in if it suits you.
Thanks once again for your visit.
Cheers,
Shalabh
