Background
Before I dive headlong into the specifics of this trek, a bit on the places and the inspiration to go on this relatively untrekked trail. I am a born and bred Himachali and my dad being a lifelong forest officer always helped matters. Himself an ardent trekker, he was often away for tours to the remotest parts of Himachal under the pretext of inspecting jungles (that's what our mom and we always have thought). I spent the longest part of my childhood in a place called Bir, just a stone's throw from the famous paragliding site, Billing. I heard of all these places from dad after he came back from his tours. Therefore, the inspiration to emulate my dad and go to Bada Bhangal first thing after getting rid of my job. As providence would have it, the time was not right for Bada Bhangal because of rains and potential land slips. Since something is better than nothing, I thought of at least making a trip to the base camp of Bada Bhangal. Let's say I was reconnoitring for the actual trek in October. Read more here.
