Background
I was itching for a trek. That's about the background for this trek. The last I went on an out and out trek was in November, when I first visited Kareri Lake and fell in love with it. 2 months and 1 absurd trip hence, the fact that it was peak winter did not matter a jot. I had been bombarding Jango with calls for almost 2 weeks before we started. Sometimes, he was not available. Other times, the weather played foul. Finally, I nailed both Jango and the weather and off we went on what I like calling The Dhauladhar Base Trek (W1/3). I know the name is cryptic and weird but it is literal. This trek involved trekking through or close to the base camps for the Western third of the Dhauladhar range. Winter trekking in Himachal can't really get you much more than the base camps and as I later realized, even that takes some doing.
The plan was to start from close to Dharamshala, walk west along the lower Dhauladhars, climbing to the altitude of base camps and then heading back east along the base camps for the peaks. This would cover base camps for Balaeni Pass, Mankiani Pass, Gaj Pass and Bhimghasutri Pass from West to East. Not quite everything always turns out according to the plan, especially when you are mad enough to go winter trekking in Himachal. There were chilly nights, days without lunch, really foul weather, some great beauty and a weather induced escape. Read more in the travelogue.

Though, I think ur logic for not putting some chronology is that u see this more of a travelogue reference than a blog.
