Highest Point - Kang La (N33 14.187 E76 49.149, 5468 mts)

Lowest Point - Urgus, District Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, India

Difficulty Level – Very Hard: High pass with discernible shortage of oxygen, long duration, heavy loads to carry for rations, freezing waist/chest deep stream crossings, 1 or possible 2 nights on glacier and/or moraine

Trek Profile

Trek Elevation ProfileAttached aside is an elevation profile of this trek. The X Axis of the graph shows the horizontal distance while the Y Axis shows the elevation. All the major waypoints on the trek have been plotted on this graph along with their elevations. The distance between waypoints along with the approximate 'moving time' between each waypoint has also been provided. This assumes a moderate walking pace with no stops at all.

The graph has been created using the GPX file of the track data for this trek and manually inserting the waypoints at the relevant places. Click on the image beside to get a larger image. To save or print the image, right click-->save as once the large image opens.

Shalabh, Now is the time to rename your site to TrekHimalayas. From when I last checked your site, you seem to have trekked to places far and wide. I would like to read kind of trek diary which you write for earlier treks. BTW, I recently did 470 km bicycle ride through Spiti valley crosses kunzum la and rohtang pass and it was amazing experience.

@Kailash - Thanks! Its good this site motivates you to visit Himachal, that was one of the reasons it was started. Feb is not the right time, atleast from a trekking point of view. If you want to do the relatively lower altitude treks (around 4000 mts), start in May. For 5000+, June-August is the time. Choosing a trek depends on what exactly you are looking for. If you could drop me an email on shalabh[at]trek himachal.com, I can give you further details.

Dear Shalabh
By mere visiting your site , I refresh myself as if actually I am roaming in Himachal mountains. Your is first hand .original and most authenticated site for various treks. Very well done. By the way the time vis a vis distance of treks you have mentioned is for what age group ?
