Getting to Trela

The closest major town is Chamba, which like most towns in Himachal is not connected by train. If you are flying, the closest airports are Raja Sansi International airport at Amritsar and the Gaggal Airport near Kangra. The former is served multiple times daily by major airlines from Delhi and has some international connections as well. Gaggal airport is served by small flights from Delhi and Chandigarh at a low frequency.

From Amritsar, head to Pathankot on NH15. From Pathankot take SH35 to Chamba, around 4 hours and served very frequently by public buses. On the way, you can visit Dalhousie and Khajjiar (after a slight detour).

From Gaggal, take NH20 to Shahpur and take a right on SH43 to Chamba. The route is served frequently by buses and would take 5-6 hours to Chamba. Tourist places on the way include Khajjiar and Chamba Jot.

After Chamba, take the SH33 to Teesa. You can avoid Chamba by taking the Teesa Road directly from Dalhousie. Trela is on the Teesa Kilar road a few Kms before Bairagarh. The route is served by many buses in a day from Chamba and taxis are also avaialble for hire. Overnight stay options before starting the trek include campsites early in the trail at Alwas and guest houses at Bhanjraroo and Teesa.

Trela is marked on this frame on OSM. Track back south for the Chamba Road.
